Ycloskey, Hopedale areas will have water shut off as new waterlines installed


A project to install new waterlines in the Ycloskey and Hopedale areas of St. Bernard Parish will result in water being shut off starting Wednesday. Water will be shut off from the Yscloskey bridge at the intersection of Citrus Avenue and Hopedale Highway to the end of Hopedale Highway past the Hopedale Marina from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday.The water is being shut off as a result of a $1,500,000 project to install new waterlines in the Ycloskey and Hopedale areas, according to parish officials. Residents in areas identified to have lost any water pressure will be asked to boil water. Boil Water Notice: Public Health officials consider any system that has lost pressure contaminated until tests of the water prove otherwise As soon as the pressure is restored, water system officials will begin collecting samples for testing When pressure is resorted, officials recommend that you vigorously boil any water to be consumed for 1 minute You will be notified when test results show the water is safe, this typically takes 24 hours
