Rose City issues boil water notice

According to the United States Geological Survey, turbidity is “the measure of relative clarity of a liquid.” When there is a turbidity exceedance, the water may look cloudy or opaque.

A number of materials can cause turbid water, including sediment, bacteria, etc., according to USGS.

City officials did not specify what caused the turbidity exceedance in their notice.

They also did not give a timeline as to when the issue might be resolved, though another notice will go out when public water system customers can resume their usual method of water consumption.

The notice points out that residents should either boil water or use bottled water before washing their hands or face, brushing their teeth, drinking, or giving it to pets.

“The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes,” the notice read. Allow water to cool before consumption.
