A Boil Advisory for some Sedalia residents will go into effect on Monday, April 5.

The City of Sedalia Public Works Department has announced that due to construction work to place a new water main and valve into service a Water Boil Advisory will be in effect from 7 a.m. Monday  April 5 at 7:00 a.m. until testing is complete at approximately 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 6. This boil advisory will affect residents along both sides of South Ohio Avenue from East 13th Street to East 20th Street and on East 16th Street from South Ohio Avenue to South Washington Avenue.

Drivers in the area of East 16th Street and South Ohio Avenue will likely notice water in the roadway  this weekend, as a water distribution system valve has failed. The failed valve and associated water main were originally scheduled for abandonment on April 5 and 6. After the valve failed, it was determined that the parts for the scheduled replacement will be available for installation on Monday, April 5, and until that time water will continue to be visible on the roadway.

On Monday, April 5 and Tuesday, April 6, drivers in the area around the East 16th Street and South Ohio Avenue intersection are encouraged to plan on using an alternate route to avoid delays due to workers and equipment in and along the roadway.

This work is weather and equipment dependent and may be affected by inclement weather or equipment breakdowns. For more information, residents can call Sedalia Public Works Department at 660-827-3000 extension 1166.

Be safe and make sure to boil your water or consider buying a water filtration system like the AquaOx Water Filter.
