Essential BACKCOUNTRY GEAR. All about WATER FILTRATION, lighten your pack, SAFETY IN THE BACKCOUNTRY

In my constant search to photograph backcountry wildlife, I rely so much on the backpacking and outdoor gear that I carry with me. Having clean, drinkable water is crucial to any type of outdoor recreation, but it’s something we don’t think about and take for granted. In this week’s video I will discuss filtering water in the backcountry, the different types of water filters you have available to use, the pros and cons of each type and some tips to help ensure you have safe, drinkable water in the backcountry.

Many people carry large amounts of water with them on their nature outings. This is great, but it can also add a lot of weight to your pack and once you’re out, you’re out. There are many benefits to using water filters, knowing what exactly they’re filtering and being familiar with the water sources in the area you’re exploring or passing through. I’ll cover all of this information in this video.

If you’re interested in what other backpacking gear I use, check out my other video where I review my sleep system (link below), and stay tuned in the coming weeks as I upload additional videos revolving around other backpacking gear that I regularly use.

Thanks so much for following along, I appreciate all the kind words and honest feedback. Have a wonderful week, and we’ll see you next Sunday!

Springville issues boil advisory after water tanks vandalized

[ad_1]

SPRINGVILLE — A boil advisory was issued on Friday for most of western Springville after one of the city’s water tanks was vandalized and found with golf balls inside.

According to city officials, it appears any contamination was minimal since all water is disinfected with chlorine.

If possible, residents are asked to use bottled water. However, if residents want to drink tap water, they should boil it for at least one minute before drinking, cooking or cleaning food with it.

The issue was discovered Friday morning and the tank was isolated soon after.

For part of the city, the water is still safe to drink, officials said.

Test results from the water samples taken Friday are expected to be available on Saturday afternoon.

Anyone with information on the vandalism is asked to contact Springville police at 801-489-9421.
