Tips on how to change the water filter on a Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator. In my replacement the water filter was stuck and wouldn’t come out, so it took a few more steps than were listed in the owner’s manual to change the filter cartridge. How to replace the water and ice filter on the Whirlpool French Door Side-By-Side Fridge. After replacing the filter, you will need to dispense at least 4 gallons of water to get rid of the carbon in the filter plus any air before using it. It’s recommended that this filter be changed every 6 months or so. The Fridge will chime and alert on the screen.
