GULF COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) — Some Gulf County Water Department System customers are under a boil water notice, county officials said Wednesday.

Gulf County officials said the boil water notice affects customers who were part of a system formerly known as Lighthouse Utilities. This does not include the city of Wewahitchka, as they have their own water system.

“Due to upgrades to the system we are issuing a precautionary boil water notice to the entire system,” officials wrote in a news release. “You are advised to bring water to a rolling boil for one full minute prior to using for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth or use bottled water until further notice.”

Officials added that residents will be notified when the boil water notice is rescinded.

Be safe and make sure to boil your water or consider buying a water filtration system like the AquaOx Water Filter.
