Construct your own sand water filter and learn about water filtration systems with this easy science project.

List Of Items:
1/2 L of swamp water (or tap water with mud or dirt added)
2 L soda pop bottle with its lid
2 L plastic soda pop bottle—one with its bottom cut off, the other with its top cut off (have an adult help with cutting)
1000 ml beaker
2 empty 20 oz cups
1 tbsp of Alum (Aluminum potassium sulfate)
2 cups of fine sand
1 cup of coarse sand
1 cup of small pebbles
1 Coffee filter or Filter Paper
1 rubber band
1 Spoon (for scooping the Alum)
1 Large spoon for stirring
Stopwatch or timer
