Main break in Minneola leaves many without water, will cause boil water notice
MINNEOLA, Fla. – A large section of the city of Minneola is without water because of a large water main break.
The city says the break is affecting properties west of U.S. Highway 27 between North Main Avenue and just south of Silverton Street.
The city says contractors installing fiber optic infrastructure for GigaPower caused the break, damaging the water system and leading to a loss of water pressure.
No one in that area has water, and a Minneola spokesperson told News 6 that they don’t know when service will be restored, but crews are actively working on the break. The city says the affected water line is in a hard-to-reach area.
Once service is restored, all businesses and residents in the area will be subject to a boil water notice until further notice.
Water should be brought to a vigorous boil for at least two minutes before drinking, cooking, brushing teeth or washing dishes.
When we get an update from the city of Minneola, we’ll share it here on News 6.
