Algal Bloom

An algal bloom is an overgrowth of the microorganism algae in freshwater or marine water systems, which may produce toxins in the water. The rapid rise in the numbers of algae creates a visible discoloration in freshwater or marine water systems. When left untreated, the bacteria in the water will use the dissolved oxygen available in the water until it becomes a dead area. Although considered harmless in most cases, algal bloom requires serious attention to avoid more significant issues in the future.
