Also known as Graphlox, C-56, and HRS 1655, hexachlorocyclopentadiene (HCCPD) is pale-yellow to amber in color liquid with a pungent, unpleasant odor. The organochlorine compound with formula C5CI6 is a manufactured chemical that is insoluble to water, corrosive to tissue, noncombustible, and highly toxic to human beings.

The major use for the chemical compound is for the manufacture of certain pesticides. As a persistent organic pollutant, hexachlorocyclopentadiene stays in the environment for 12 years.
