In this video, home renovation brothers Dave and Rich and Dave’s son, Caleb, show you how to replace a GE Cafe Refrigerator RPWFE Water Filter.
Replacing a GE Cafe water filter is not difficult, but you MUST know which type of water filter housing you have to determine how to remove the old filter and how to install the new one.
In this video, the refrigerator that we are working on has a gray water filter housing. This type of filter will be removed by pulling it straight out.
If you had a GE Cafe refrigerator with a blue water filter housing you would turn the filter one quarter turn to remove it and also turn the new filter one quarter turn to install it.
After the filter is removed, replace it with a genuine GE RPWFE water filter. A generic filter could possibly not work correctly.
With the gray water filter housing, simply push the filter straight into the housing, but don’t turn it. There are small grooves that you have to line up to keep it in place. Make sure to push until the filter is seated all the way.
After that, run the water dispenser for about 5 minutes, pouring out 2 gallons of water to make sure all of the air is purged from the lines.
Knowing how to fix a sliding glass door means saving a lot of money. It is easy and inexpensive. It may be as easy as replacing the rollers on which the sliding door rides. Typical problems with a sticking sliding glass door reside with a broken track or a track clogged with debris, or broken rollers. If a quick cleaning of the track doesn’t help, then it’s time to examine the rollers. To do this, follow this video and you’ll see how simple it is to remove the door and the rollers.
A sliding glass door can be removed by removing the stops and door guard. Then the sliding door can be lifted up and out to expose the rollers on the bottom of the door. The rollers fit into mortised pockets. The rollers can be pried out and inspected.
If you need a new roller, order one up from Amazon and in a couple of days you’ll have what you need to get your sliding glass door back into shape.

Review and failure of the PUR Water Filter with Bluetooth technology. Unite failed / died during firmware update / upgrade and no longer functioning with Bluetooth and the indicator lights on the union no longer function. Spoke with Customer Service and we tried reset (press spring inside the unit 7 times) and that did not resolve the issue and was advised to return the unit to place of purchase.
Pur Filter:
2019 Update: The replacement unit worked fine until it started to leak at the seam between the two pieces of plastic that goes from the filter housing to the faucet attachment piece. The warranty period expired 🙁 .

By Popular Demand, our Stainless Water Kegs finally explained. Having fought with typical plastic RV tanks before, I wanted something different.
We hated that typical RV tanks taste like plastic. They have loud pumps that cycle on and off, buuurrh, buuurrh, buuurrh. Needing to shock them with bleach all the time. Level indicators that never work properly… etc etc.
Benefits we see with having modular kegs like this:
1. We can segregate our water if we get a fill from a questionable source and extra filtering as needed.
2. We can open them and get inside and clean or dump them if there are big gribbles in there.
3. No Loud Pump* (The air compressor is loud, but we can control when it runs, usually once every few days)
4. Despencing with air means we don’t need a water pump, (which can only pump water) Our air compressor has multiple purposes, And we’d rather have redundant air compressors than a water pump that can’t air up our tires.
5. We can grab a keg and walk for water, from a campsite spigot, a little diner, or park water fountain etc etc without needing to get the whole truck close to the water source.
6. Eventually, we’d planned to weld a stainless coil into the lid to have a coolant heat exchanger or even a 12 Volt DC heater element that would essentially be our water heater. Would need to be insulated of course.
7. The whole system is inside our building envelope and freezing lines or tank is not a concern when back home in the frozen motherland.
8. Being modular, we can daisy chain as many as we need for that trip… We provisioned space for 10, but in practice, we’ve found that 5 is more than enough even in Baja Mexico.
9. Others, I’ll update as I remember.
This would be a super way for #VanLife types to bring along some clean drinking water. Keep it separate from the wash water.
Where to get them:
They are being phased out of service for soda in favor of the syrup in a bag in a box, mix at the tap systems. Popular with the craft brew guys. So you have to keep an eye out for them. Craigslist, Kijiji and eBay
Depending on where you are they come up on craigslist from time to time. I heard of some bought from a metal recycling place for scrap stainless price. You may need to replace the rubber o-rings to get them to seal and some have dents that need to be banged out… but still very serviceable.
